Gentianella amarella (Linnaeus) Börner subsp. acuta (Michaux) Gillett
Gentianella acuta is an annual upper elevation herb. The corolla tube is pale purple with five short pastel purple lobes with fringes at the base of each. The tube is not pleated between the lobes, and the anthers are orange and black. The flowers are terminal and in the leaf axils. The sepals are dimorphic, but one does not enclose the rest as in G. heterosepala. The stems are usually single and the leaves are erect, lanceolate, strongly veined, and acuminate.
