Pohlia bolanderi (Sullivant) Brotherus
Family: Mniaceae, formerly Mielichhoferiaceae, Mniaceae & Bryaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Bryum bolanderi Lesquereux
Pohlia bolanderi (Lesquereux) Brotherus
Pohlia bolanderi Lesquereux var. seriata A.J. Shaw
Pohlia bolanderi is rather robust for this genus. The leaves are serrate at the apex. The mid-laminal cells are strikingly linear.
The capsule is elongate cylindrical but the neck is not as long as it is in P. elongata. We first found Pohlia
bolanderi in the Taos area and more pix of that plant, which was confirmed by Jon Shaw, can be found here.
