Family: Grimmiaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Grimmia anodon Bruch & Schimper var. anomola Bartram
Grimmia subanodon Ochyra
Schistidium obtusifolium Ireland & H.A. Crum
Grimmia anodon is a greenish black moss with the costa excurrent as a hyaline hairpoint. The margin of the leaf is plane. The lamina is one stratose except for the margins where it is two-stratose, and occasional patches elsewhere in the leaf where it can also be two-stratose. The short capsules are immersed and have no peristome. The seta is off-centered where it inserts onto the base of the capsule. Many thanks to Kelly Allred and to Henk Greven for confirming the ID of this moss.
