Grimmia sessitana De Not.

Family: Grimmiaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Only subspecific taxa

Grimmia sessitana looks similar to many other Grimmias. It has a mostly bistratose distal lamina, hairpoints and the seta inserts centrally into the capsule which has stomata. An interesting distinguishing feature is seen well only on leaf cross section-- the lamina is unistratose in one or two rows medially at the costa above the base.

Many thanks to the University of Colorado Herbarium (COLO), Erin Tripp & Dina Clark for permitting us to photograph this specimen.
