Gymnosperma glutinosum is a perennial with small yellow flowers in large clusters. Both ray flowers and disc flowers are yellow. Gymnosperma glutinosum looks superficially like Gutierrezia, but while Gutierrezia has a spherical growth form, Gymnosperma glutinosum is more upright. The flowerheads on Gymnosperma are larger than on Gutierrezia, and the leaves are wider and more lanceolate than linear. They are creased at the midvein. Gymnosperma is found at somewhat higher elevations but does overlap with Gutierrezia in some areas.
