Synonyms:
Echinospermum ursinum Greene
Lappula leucantha Greene
Lappula ursina Greene

Hackelia ursina var. ursina can most easily be differentiated from Hackelia pinetorum var. pinetorum by its white rather than bluish flowers. It is also found in middle to upper elevation mixed conifer forest. The leaf of Hackelia ursina var. ursina can vary considerably in width.
