Family: Pottiaceae

Synonyms:
Gymnostomum recurvirostrum Hedwig
Hymenostylium recurvirostrum is a moss of seepy areas. It usually has a long lanceolate leaf with one recurved margin. The apex is acute. Unlike the usual situation with Gymnostomum recurvirostrum, there is no central strand (although Gymnostomum in our area can lack a central strand also.) There are two well developed stereid bands.
