Hymenothrix wislizeni is a erect roadside annual. The yellow flowerheads are arranged in
dense mostly terminal clusters with 10 to 20 heads per cluster. Each flowerhead has about 5 ray flowers, and
considerably more disc flowers. Both the rays and the disc are yellow. The effect is that of a yellow pinwheel. The leaves are highly dissected with linear segments. The achenes are pubescent and the pappus consists of about a dozen awned hyaline scales.
