Imbribryum torenii J.R. Spence & Shevock
Family: Bryaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
None known
Imbribryum torenii like other members of the genus has "rather rigid equally foliate stems generally occurring over rock" (from J.R. Spence and James Shevock's descripition of the species in MadroƱo). This species is differentiated from our I. muehlenbeckii vegetatively by I. torenii having strongly recurved leaf margins. Per Spence and Shevock's original description (2015) this species also has "broadly ovate leaves, short excurrent costa, hexagonal distal laminal cels, cylindric capsule, and large spores." Large orange to brown
rhizoidal tubers can be present.
Many thanks to John Brinda who collected and sent us this specimen to photograph!
