Isopterygium tenerum Mitten
Family: Pylaisiadelphaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Hypnum tenerum Swartz
Isopterygium tenerum is a complanate, pleurocarpous moss with elongate laminal cells and an acute apex. The alar region is
somewhat differentiated but there are no inflated cells. The stem has no central strand or hyalodermis. The stem
does have filiform pseudoparaphyllia best seen surrounding shoot primordia along a main stem. There are no brood branchlets
as one would find in Platygyrium species.
Many thanks to the University of Colorado Herbarium (COLO), Erin Tripp & Dina Clark for loaning us this specimen for photography.
