Jaffueliobryum raui (Austin) Thériot
Family: Grimmiaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Coscinodon raui (Austin) Lesq. & James
Grimmia raui Austin
Jaffueliobryum raui is a small moss with long hairpoints on the distal leaves, sometimes
longer than the laminae. The more proximal leaves on a stem may lack hairpoints. Unlike
J. wrightii in which the lamina is rounded to the hairpoint, the lamina of J. raui is tapered
to the attachment to the awn. Both of these mosses grow on sand or rock in arid
environments.
