Laennecia sophiifolia is an erect 2-4 foot tall herbaceous plant arising from a single stemmed base, but with a many branched panicle-like inflorescence. The inflorescence usually consists of dozens of small whitish flowerheads. The leaves are once to twice deeply pinnatifid. The pappus consists of capillary bristles. Laennecia sophiifolia was photographed at middle elevation on a dry and rocky two-track in the Mogollons.
