Lemna gibba Linnaeus
(Inflated Duckweed)

Family: Araceae, formerly Lemnaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
None

Lemna gibba, found as floating individuals rather than matted, is easily recognized under the microscope. The fronds are strikingly inflated on the lower surface, very unlike the relatively flat profile of other Lemnaceae here. Lemna gibba is found at lower elevation in slowly moving water.
