Like all species in the genus Linum, Linum puberulum is five merous throughout. Linum puberulum has grayish pubescent foliage with linear leaves. This feature distinguishes it from Linum vernale. Both have flowers with orange petals with a reddish central blotch. Linum puberulum is found more to the south in dry plains than Linum vernale.
