Lonicera utahensis differs most obviously from the other honeysuckles in that it is more woody and less viney. It bears berries in pairs, after the yellow-green flowers mature. The leaves are oval. The corolla tube is noticeably saccate at the base and pubescent within. Lonicera utahensis is found in mixed conifer forest at upper elevation.
