Lophozia wenzelii (Nees) Steph.
Family: Lophoziaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Jungermannia wenzelii Nees
Jungermannia groenlandica Nees
Lophozia formosana Horik
Lophozia wenzelii is easier than some of the other members of this genus to identify.
The leaves are shallowly bilobed. The leaves are rolled inward, cupped and saucer-shaped. Additionally, some of the
leaves have an incurved margin as well. There are two-celled triangular gemmae that can be identified on the
leaf margins.
We appreciate the University of Colorado Herbarium (COLO), Erin Tripp & Dina Clark for loaning us this
specimen to photograph!
