Oenothera podocarpa is a erect biennial. The basal leaves are oblanceolate and villous, and the cauline leaves are linear. The sepals are linear and 4-5mm long, and the petals are pink and oblanceolate. The fruits are sessile, glabrous and sharply four angled. The anthers are linear and at least 2mm long. The hypanthium is 5-7mm long. Oenothera podocarpa is found in canyons at middle elevation.
