Oenothera suffrutescens is an erect perennial with sessile leaves. The raquet shaped petals begin pink or white and
age red. The sepals are reflexed when the flowers are mature. The style is very long and the stigma is four parted. Oenothera suffrutescens is found in lower to middle elevation hillsides and roadsides.
