Ozobryum ogalalense G.L. Merr.
Family: Pottiaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Molendoa ogalalensis (G.L. Merr.) R.H. Zander
Ozobryum ogalalense is very similar to both Gymnostomum and Molendoa, but the laminal cells
of both of those two genera are pluripapillose. The stem of Ozobryum ogalalense has
no sclerodermis. The leaf cells of Ozobryum ogalalense have
one large papilla each and the costa has 2 guide cells. The perichaetia are lateral rather than terminal, similar to Molendoa.
Unfortunately, not all specimens will be found in reproductive condition.
Many thanks to the University of Colorado Herbarium, Erin Tripp, and Dina Clark for permitting us
to photograph this specimen.
