Palustriella falcata is a pleurocarp with falcate secund, plicate leaves. The alar cells are inflated and hyaline. Slender paraphyllia are abundant and helpful in differentiating this moss from other Amblystegiaceae. Cratoneuron is similar, but its leaves are not plicate. Palustriella falcata is found around moving water at upper elevation.
