Paraleucobryum longifolium is not as obviously circinate and has a much broader costa at the base than P. sauteri. The costa of
P. longifolium takes up 70-80% of the leaf base. The costa of P. sauteri takes up about 50% of the leaf base. P. longifolium is found at middle to upper elevation in moist mixed conifer forest.
