Plagiothecium cavifolium (Bridel) Z. Iwatzuki

Family: Plagiotheciaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Hypnum cavifolium Bridel

Plagiothecium cavifolium is a complanate, pleurocarpous moss with nearly symmetrical leaves. There are no papillae present and the costa, while variable, is usually short and double. The leaves are decurrent. The cells of the decurrency are not particularly inflated. The leaf margins are plane. There commonly are cylindrical gemmae in some of the leaf axils.
