Plantago lanceolata is a perennial herb with lanceolate villous leaves with brownish hairs at the base.
The leaves are strongly ribbed. The scapes are tall and grooved with dense spikes of small flowers with four stamens. Plantago was introduced from Europe and is now found along town sidewalks and along roadsides.
