Status: Native

Mniobryum wahlenbergii (F. Weber & D. Mohr) Jennings

Pohlia wahlenbergii when fresh has an umistakable whitish cast or sheen to the otherwise light green leaves. This contrasts well with the "opalescent" sheen of P. cruda and the rather dull green of P. nutans, our other most common species of the genus. P. wahlenbergii also has decurrent leaves and frequently has pinkinsh or reddish stems. The capsules are required to key out the species, but they are infrequently present in New Mexico. P. wahlenbergii is found in moist soil in many habitats usually at middle elevations.
