Peach trees are probably a recent addition to the flora of this area. They are not as common as apple trees in moist canyons
of the Gila, but they seem to be reproducing in the forest. Martha Carter first noticed a peach tree growing on the roadside
along Hwy 152 between Emory Pass and Kingston many years ago. The smaller but fruiting tree pictured here is in Cherry Creek
