Pseudoleskeella nervosa is one of many species previously in the Leskeaceae that has been moved around in nomenclature quite a bit. It is rather easy to identify based on the thin flagelliform branchlets that are commonly present. These branchlets break off easily and are a form of asexual reproduction. They are clustered at the end of branches sometimes in great profusion. The leaves of main stems are ovate at the base and acuminate at the apex, with the acumen about as long as the base. The leaves of the flagelliform branchlets are much smaller, and do not have the midvein that is very obvious on the main stem leaves. Pseudoleskeella nervosa is found in thin dark mats over rock at higher elevation.
