Ptychostomum pallens is notable for its pinkish to reddish color, revolute margins with a wide limbidium (margin), and percurrent to short excurrent costa. The capsule is pyriform, more or less pear-shaped. Ptychostomum pallens is found on wet soil. The stem is obviously pentagonal throughout on this specimen
