Quercus grisea Leibmann
(Gray Oak)
Family: Fagaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
None
Quercus grisea is perhaps our most common oak. It intergrades with Quercus arizonica, Quercus turbinella, and perhaps other oaks as well. The leaves are ovate, hairy and grayish green.
The upper surface of the leaf is sparsely stellate pubescent. The lower leaf surface is densely stellate tomentose, but also has
shorter simple or forked golden brown glandular hairs. The bark is furrowed. Quercus grisea is either a shrub or tree, depending on the circumstances.
