Quercus rugosa Nee
(Netleaf Oak)
Family: Fagaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Quercus diversicolor Trelease
Quercus reticulata Humboldt & Bonpland
Quercus rugosa is found in canyons where water runs year-round or
nearly so. The bark is relatively soft. The unlobed leaves are green above. The
undersurface of the leaf is marked by a dense network of veins. Between
the veins on the undersurface of the leaf are numerous tufts of hairs and
yellow glands. The acorns are born on long pedicels, frequently more than one
acorn to a pedicel.
