Rhynchosida physocalyx is a decumbent herb with five pale yellow petals around a cluster of stamens in a group around the style (monadelphous.) The fruit is enclosed at maturity by a much enlarged calyx, similar to Physalis in the Solanaceae and giving it the species epithet "physocalyx." Rhynchosida physocalyx is found in disturbed soil at middle elevation.
