Synonyms:
Jungermannia curta Mart.
Scapania curta, like others of the genus, bears the smaller lobule above the larger leaf lobe on the stem. In this species, the lobule is relatively large compared to the main leaf lobe. In addition, the marginal cells of the leaves are thick-walled.
