Schistidium dupretii (Thér.) W.A. Weber
Family: Grimmiaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
None
Schistidium dupretii, like all members of the genus, drops the columella from
the capsule attached to the operculum as can be seen on this specimen. The costa is
percurrent (to the apex) and the peristome of the capsule is well-developed. Many of the
cells are obviously sinuous. The transverse and longitudinal cell walls of the basal and marginal cells are all of
about the same thickness. Schistidium dupretii is found in dry habitats.
Many thanks to the University of Colorado Herbarium (COLO), Erin Tripp, and Dina Clark for permitting us to
photograph this specimen.
