Schistochilopsis incisa (Schrad.) Konstant.
Family: Scapaniaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Jungermannia incisa Schrad.
Lophozia incisa (Schrad.) Dumort.
Massularia incisa (Schrad.) Schljakov
Schistochilopsis incisa is probably better known by the older synonym Lophozia incisa. The plants are small,
only a millimeter or two wide, and the leaves form cabbage-like heads. The leaves are two- to five-lobed. The lobes are asymmetric and many of the lobes are tipped by masses of polyhedral gemmae. The leaf cells have 20-50 oil bodies. Underleaves are absent. Schistochilopsis incisa can be found on decaying logs or moist soil.
