Solenostoma confertissimum (Nees) Schljakov

Family: Solenostomaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Jungermannia confertissima Nees

Solenostoma confertissimum is said to have "reniform" leaves, but when removed from the stem with forceps they look more semicircular to circular depending on how much leaf can be removed. Underleaves and gemmae are absent. Rhizoids are present in obvious bundles on the leaf bases and along the ventral stem. This small liverwort is only 1-2mm wide.

Many thanks to the New York Botanical Garden and Laura Briscoe for loaning us this specimen (NYBG barcode #02136063) for photography.
