Solenostoma hyalinum (Lyell) Mitten

Family: Solenostomaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Jungermannia hyalina Lyell
Plectocolea hyalina (Lyell) Mitten

Solenostoma hyalina has entire leaf margins and semicircular leaves that are decurrent on the stem. The rhizoids are red. The widest part of the leaf is at the base. There are a few large, granular oil bodies in fresh specimens, but they degrade in herbarium specimens and are not well seen.

Many thanks to the Duke Herbarium and Blanka Aguero for loaning us this specimen for photography.
