Synonyms:
Holcus halepensis Linnaeus

Sorghum halapense is a tall perennial with long rhizomes. It grows in moist places and can form large colonies. The flowering segments are called "rames." In the rames, a pedicelled spikelet can give rise to more pedicelled spikelets.
