Thuidium assimile (Mitt.) A. Jaeger
Family: Thuidiaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Thuidium delicatulum (Hedw.) Schimp. var. radicans (Kindb.) H.A. Crum
Thuidium philibertii Limpricht
Thuidium recognitumvar. radicans Kindberg
Thuidium recognitumsubsp. philibertii (Limpricht) Dixon
Thuidium assimile is similar to our more common T. delicatulum, except that the stem leaves on T. assimile end in a 2-8 cell long hyaline hairpoint rather than simply being acute, and the perichaetial leaves are apparently not ciliate as they are on T. delicatulum. We found T. assimile in a canyon with perennial water at middle elevation in mixed conifer forest.
