Thymophylla pentachaeta var. belenidium is a lower elevation spring blooming herb with yellow ray flowers and a yellow disc. The
inflorescences are held 2-5cm above the herbage. The leaves are pinnate when examined closely. T. acerosa is very similar but easy to distinguish by its sessile flower heads.
