Family: Pottiaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Dermatodon cernuus Huebener
Desmatodon cernuus (Huebener) Bruch & Schimp.
Trichostomum cernuum (Huebener) Trevis.

Tortula cernua has no obvious papillae. The leaf usually has a border of 2-3 rows of long rectangular cells and is recurved at midleaf. The leaf apex is mucronate. There is no adaxial pad of cells. The capsule is curved.
