Urtica gracilenta is an erect, lower elevation herb with opposite, nearly orbicular leaves so evenly dentate that they look like gears. They are cordate. The stems and pedicels are densely armed with stinging hairs. Urtica gracilenta is found in the shade beneath trees along streams.
