Fissidens sublimbatus Grout
Family: Fissidentaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
None
Fissidens sublimbatus is a smaller Fissidens with an apiculus made up of a single hyaline cell. The dorsal lamina ends before the leaf insertion. The margin is entire or serrulate distally. There is a weak limbidium frequently found only on the vaginant lamina. The stems are dimorphic, with fertile stems having larger leaves that are more widely spaced (see pix of this same species on the mosses of the Gila portion of this webpage). Fissidens sublimbatus is found in arid lower elevation areas.
