Xanthisma gracile is a common city sidewalk dweller, but is very common in most areas in the
Gila National Forest in lower and middle elevations. It has small yellow disc and ray flowers,
and gray green inconconspicuous foliage. The leaves are small, lanceolate and minutely toothed or spine-tipped.
Only two chromosomes are present in the nucleus of this small herb.
