The social work program at Western New Mexico University offers practical degrees in fields with excellent employment opportunities. Social workers work with people in health care, human services, childrenís protective services, therapy, hospice, agency administration, public schools . . . well, we hope you get the picture! We offer bachelorís and masterís degrees in social work and both degrees are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Social work education from Western New Mexico University can prepare you for careers that make a difference. Classes for majors are typically small in size and have experienced faculty. Student skills are maximized through use of appropriate technology, various teaching styles, quality pre-professional experiences, and community services. All social work classes are available in Silver City, Gallup, Deming, and Truth or Consequences, with most available in Lordsburg.

National Institute for Social Work and Human Services in Rural Areas Conference

The 39th Annual National Institute for Social Work and Human Services in Rural Areas was hosted by School of Social Work at WNMU. It was a remarkable success. July 16-18, 2014.

MSW Accreditation update

WNMU's MSW program received its full accreditation on June 8, 2013! The Initial Accreditation was granted by Commission on Accreditation (COA). Click the link above to read the letter.

Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (AS4B)

Baccalaureate Social Work Program assessment of student learning outcomes last completed on December 1, 2012. AS4B form is used to assist the COA in the evaluation of the program's compliance with the accreditation standards

Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (AS4M)

Masterís Social Work Program assessment of student learning outcomes last completed on March 27, 2013. AS4M form is used to assist the COA in the evaluation of the programís compliance with the accreditation standards.
