OVERVIEW

This web portal provides a single access point to all reports and disclosures mandated by The Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) which requires consistent disclosure of certain institutional characteristics and reporting requirements to prospective and current students, staff and the general public. The content of this page is based on the “National Postsecondary Education Cooperative. (2009). Information Required to Be Disclosed Under the Higher Education Act of 1965: Suggestions for Dissemination (Updated) (NPEC 2010-831v2)“, prepared by Carol Fuller and Carlo Salerno, Coffey Consulting. Washington, DC.

It is designed to provide students with information from a variety of sources on campus to allow students, parents, counselors, and others to make informed decisions about enrollment at Western New Mexico University. While information provided in the required disclosures is helpful, it is not comprehensive and other factors may influence a decision to enroll.

        • Western New Mexico University has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1942, the next reaffirmation of accreditation is scheduled to take place in 2024-2025

        • The School of Business is accredited by the ACBSP for the Associate in Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, in Marketing, and in Management, Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration, and Master of Business Administration

    • Western New Mexico University has memorandums of understanding to promote transfer pathways for students. The list of partnerships is regularly updated and posted on the Academic Affairs website

  • FERPA – Student Privacy Information

    • Information about FERPA policies, including frequently asked questions, is available on the Registrar’s website. Additionally, notices are delivered via university email annually.

  • Official Withdrawal from the University

    • To withdraw from all courses in a term prior to the deadline to withdraw, students should follow the procedure as described in the current year university catalog. Procedural information can be located in the catalog under General Information > Records and Registration > Withdrawal from WNMU – Complete Semester Withdrawal
    • To withdraw from all courses in a term after the deadline to withdraw, students should follow the procedure as described on the Registrar’s website, which includes completing a petition to withdraw. Withdrawing from courses after the deadline to withdraw may have financial implications, including a requirement to return a federal aid refund and the possibility of future financial aid eligibility

  • Services for Students with Disabilities

    • Western New Mexico University provides services for students with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Information on services for students with disabilities is available through the Office of Wellness and Accessibility Services

  • Vaccination Policies

    • Western New Mexico University does not have university-wide vaccination policies, however, some academic programs that require fieldwork, clinicals, practicums, or internships in certain settings may require students to conform to vaccination policies in order to protect the public. These programs may include Nursing, Education, Early Childhood Education, Counseling, and Social Work. Students in these programs should contact their academic department to inquire about vaccination policies.

TUITION & FEES

  • Cost of Attendance

    • Western New Mexico University’s cost of attendance can vary based on factors including state of residence, number of credit hours taken, types of courses taken (e.g. courses with lab fees, online courses, etc.), and eligibility for discounts. To estimate the cost of attendance, the University provides a full list of tuition by credit hour, a summary of fees, and information about certain discounts on its Cashier’s Office webpage and in the current University Catalog.

    • Western New Mexico University has fees that can vary based on factors including number of credit hours taken and types of courses taken (e.g. courses with lab fees, online or hybrid courses, etc.).   • Net Price Calculator

    • As required by law, Western New Mexico University provides a net price calculator which can help first time students estimate their cost of attendance along with estimated financial aid. The net price calculator provides an estimate only, and does not include institutional scholarships, state aid, or other awards. The WNMU net price calculator is available on the website of the Office of Financial Aid.

  • Refunds for Withdrawals or Dropped Courses

    • The last day to drop courses and receive a refund is posted on the University’s course schedule. Deadlines for courses may be dependent on factors such as the start and end date of a course, particularly for short courses that do not last a full semester
    • The University’s Academic Calendar provides information pertaining to deadlines to drop or withdraw from courses
    • The University’s refund policies are posted on the WNMU Cashier’s Office webpage and in the current University Catalog
    • Information about the impact of enrollment changes or withdrawals on Financial Aid is available on the Title IV Policy page in the Office of Financial Aid

COMPLAINT PROCESS

  • Internal Complaint Processes

    • To submit a complaint related to the assignment of grades or conduct of an instructor that does not involve a complaint of sexual harassment or discrimination, the Academic Complaint Procedure is published on the Center for student Success webpage
    • To make a report or submit a complaint related to sexual harassment or discrimination, WNMU offers a publicly accessible webform and accepts contact by email at titleix@wnmu.edu and by telephone at (575) 538-6025
    • For other complaints not involving the assignment of grades or conduct of an instructor, and not involving sexual harassment or discrimination, individuals should contact the administrator in charge of the department or division involved in the complaint directly. Contact information for all departments, faculty, and staff is provided in the University’s Directory.

    • Western New Mexico University adheres to copyright protections as described in Title 17 of the Unites States Code, the text of which is available on the US Copyright Office website

  • Course Materials & Textbook Information

    • To reduce the cost of textbooks and courseware for students, Western New Mexico University utilizes a fee-based textbook and course material service called Follett Access. Information about Follett Access is available on the WNMU website.
    • In cases where additional materials are required for courses, including supplemental materials available only in print, electronic articles, or specialized supplies or materials (e.g. art supplies, medical equipment, etc.), information is available in the course syllabus.

    • Collegiate License Plates are available through the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division. A portion of the fee collected from vehicle registration supports Western New Mexico University
