Silver City, NM – The Western New Mexico University Board of Regents members met for a strategic planning workshop on Friday, March 21, to discuss the university’s upcoming accreditation visit and the development of the ongoing Master Facilities Plan. The development of a new strategic plan was presented to regent members as the university transforms to meet the needs of future students and community. The discussion focused on the initial phases of the strategic plan and the drafting of the new mission and vision statement. “The mission and vision are who we are and who we want to be,” said Kathie Gilbert, Special Assistant to the President for Quality Initiatives. “The strategic plan is how we are going to get there.” At its afternoon public session meeting, the board approved the university’s new mission and vision statements as well as values and goals.
