Allie Wilkinson’s work oscillates between representation and abstraction, united by the materials she uses. Her largest single work ‘endless,’ is 234 feet long to date. In this work, she delves deeply into the physical properties of ink on dura-lar, gradually filling the surface with undulating strokes in a meditative practice; the result is an ongoing ink archive of internal experience. ‘endless’ has inhabited fields, ponds, roads, and trees, a shape shifting installation that adapts to its environment. When installed inside, ‘endless’ becomes sculptural, cascading to the floor and rippling into itself. It fills the space and moves softly in breezes stirred by moving bodies, seeming to breathe.
