Yabba dabba do! Caveman couture and pet dinosaurs will rock the Old Elks Lodge on Saturday, April 7, at The Neanderthal Ball, the 7th annual PFLAG Silver City scholarship benefit dance, 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the Nancy Kailing Memorial Scholarship at Western New Mexico University. Tickets are $10 per person or $5 for WNMU students with a current, valid ID. Tickets will be sold at the door, and advance tickets are available at Vintage Fantasies and Shevek’s Casuals downtown. This prehistoric evening features music by Mr. Anderson; beer, wine and snack sales by Vicki’s Eatery; a raffle; and a costume contest with prizes. Superb showman Ward Rudick will serve as emcee. Attendees are encouraged to create original costumes using animal prints and fake fur. Vintage Fantasies has a variety of caveperson clothing on display.

“People in Grant County love to dress up and dance,” says Damie Nelson, PFLAG President. “Many remember Nancy Kailing and her commitment to equality for LGBTQ persons. This is a way to honor her memory and have a great time channeling your inner Troglodyte.”

Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends and allies, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality through its mission of support, education and advocacy. For more information, call 575-590-8797 or visitwww.pflagsilver.org.
