Garryaceae (Silktassel Family)
The Garryaceae are shrubs or small trees. The leaves are opposite, and "praying," meaning that
the opposite leaves curve upwards. The plants are dioecious-- separate sexes on different plants. There are no
petals on the flowers. The staminate inflorescence is a drooping raceme, the "tassel."
