Admissions Process

A few things you need to know about, before you get started on your admissions process for Western.

How to Apply

Applying to WNMU is easy and can be done quickly. The following checklist is your path to successfully being admitted to WNMU. After completing the first step, you will receive a notification from the Office of Admissions on your application status. There is a $30 application fee. Scholarships may be available for incoming freshmen applying for the first time.

Requirements and checklist for you to complete before you can be fully admitted to Western New Mexico University.

Apply for Admissions

Fill out online application: www.wnmu.edu/applynow.

Provide official high school transcripts or GED scores.

These transcripts/scores need to be in a sealed envelope.

If transferring from another college, the college transcripts will also need to be provided.

High school/GED transcripts are not required if you have more than 24 college credit hours.

Send your transcripts by mail to:

Official transcripts can be sent electronically/emailed to: submit.transcripts@wnmu.edu

*electronic transcripts must be sent directly from the school to be considered official

Provide ACT or SAT scores.

They need to be less than 5 years old.

Scores determine if Accuplacer Placement Test is needed.

ACT or SAT scores are not required for Admission to WNMU.

Complete the FAFSA Application.

Scholarships may be available to first time students and transfer students.

Tuition Waivers are available to students that live in certain states.

Tuition and fees to attend WNMU are among the lowest in our region. You will receive a quality education at an affordable cost.

Tuition & Fees

These amounts do not include lab or course fees that may be associated with a student’s registered courses. Please refer to our catalog for more information. Tuition and fee charges are subject to change(s) made by the WNMU Board of Regents and may be revised.

Fall, Spring, and Summer Terms

WNMU's tuition and fees are amazingly competitive.

We offer very competitive rates. If you are out of state your first 6 credit hours are heavily discounted.

The Summer semester is also a great time to take classes and save money and time at Western. We don’t care if you are in-state or out of state, our prices are the same. We charge in-state no matter where you come from.

Tuition Discounts

Depending on your place of residency, you may qualify for reduced tuition. This reduction can be up to $8,039.52 a year.

Tuition Guarantee

The tuition guarantee offer has been sunsetted effective summer of 2020. Any new or readmitted students will be charged at the current approved rates throughout their academic career.

Scholarships

Even though our costs are low, we know you will probably need a little extra help. WNMU offers many chances for our students to get financial support. We know its important.

Dual Enrollment

WNMU offers high school students an opportunity to begin their post-secondary education before graduating from high school. This opportunity applies to students in public high schools, public charter schools, bureau of Indian educational-funded high schools, private schools and those students who are homeschooled.
