Outdoor Program: Gear Swap/Sale

© Western New Mexico University

Please join the WNMU Outdoor Program (OP) in our First Annual Gear Sale/Swap to be held Saturday, April 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Big Ditch Park in downtown Silver City. This event is part of the 2016 Continental Divide Trail Days Outdoor Organizational Showcase and Gear Expo (http://continentaldividetrail.org/2016-trail-days/)

What is the gear sale/swap? The Gear Swap is similar to a yard sale or flea market. This is a great opportunity to grab some used gear for a really good price, or swap a good piece of gear for something better. Connect with local trail groups and others who are interested in the outdoors as well as participate in programming to celebrate Silver City’s designation as the First Gateway City to the Continental Divide Trail.

Who can participate: Anyone!

How does it work? If you are interested in participating in the Gear Swap/Sale, you have a few options:

1. WNMU affiliates (students/faculty/staff) bring your gear to the WNMU Outdoor Program booth and sell at or trade as you see fit.
a. You must register with us by calling 538-6253 or email outdoors@wnmu.edu. Our booth space is limited; registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
b. Please arrive at our space in The Big Ditch Park no later than 9:00 a.m. on Saturday April 16th so that you can get you gear ready. You will stay with your gear until you swap, sell, or decide to leave.
c. Bring cash with you so that you can make your own change.
d. Be ready to barter!

2. Let the Outdoor Program sell your gear for you.
a. Starting next Monday, March 28, drop your gear off at The Outpost (located in the basement of Graham Gym) during hours of operation (http://outdoor.wnmu.edu/). You don’t have to be a WNMU affiliate to let us sell your gear.
b. Let the OP staff know how much you want to charge for each piece of gear and we will inventory the items and provide you a receipt. We will add 15% to your price and attempt to sell your gear at the event. The 15% increase will be used to support WNMU outdoor programming.
c. After the even, you can pick up the proceeds and any unsold gear on Monday April 18.
d. The Outdoor Program won’t be held responsible for theft or loss.

3. Donate your gear to the WNMU Outdoor Program and we will sell/swap your gear!
a. All proceeds will be used to support WNMU outdoor programming.
b. The OP will give you a great big THANK YOU for your support.
